Mini Bernedoodle Puppies: A Family's Guide

Mini Bernedoodles have a way of melting hearts with their teddy bear faces and striking colors. They're gentle, loyal and loving, and they make wonderful family companions. Here's what to know before bringing one home.

What is a Mini Bernedoodle?

A Mini Bernedoodle is a cross between a Bernese Mountain Dog and a Poodle, bred to a smaller size. They get the calm, affectionate nature of the Bernese and the smarts and lower-shedding coat of the Poodle.

How big do Mini Bernedoodles get?

Our Mini Bernedoodles usually grow to about 15 to 50 lbs. The parents' size is the best predictor, so each litter on our upcoming litters and waitlist page lists an expected adult weight.

Colors

Bernedoodles are famous for their looks. Common colors include the classic tri-color (black, white and rust), black and white, and merle patterns. Coats are usually wavy to curly.

Temperament

  • Gentle and loyal. They bond closely with their families.
  • Calm and steady, often a little more laid back than Goldendoodles
  • Great with kids and usually friendly with other pets
  • Smart and trainable, though some can be a bit stubborn as teenagers

Their calm, loving nature makes many Mini Bernedoodles a great fit for emotional support homes. See our therapy and service dog page to learn more.

Grooming and care

Plan to brush a few times a week and schedule a professional groom every 6 to 8 weeks. Their thick coats can feel warm in hot weather, so a summer trim and shady, cool rest spots help.

How every Dainty Doodles puppy is raised

No matter where you live, every puppy gets the same start:

  • Raised inside our home, not in a kennel or a guardian home, with kids, everyday noise and real routines.
  • DNA health-tested parents, so you can see the health work behind every pairing.
  • Early Neurological Stimulation and hands-on socialization from the first days.
  • Temperament testing, so we can match each puppy to the right family.
  • Early potty, kennel and basic training, at no extra charge.
  • Lifetime support. You can reach out any time, for the life of your dog.
