How to Choose a Doodle Breeder in California
Choosing a breeder is the biggest decision you'll make when getting a puppy. A good breeder sets your dog up for a healthy, happy life. A bad one can leave you with heartbreak and vet bills. Here's what to look for.

Signs of a good doodle breeder
- Health testing you can see. Ask what DNA and health testing the parents have had, and ask to see the results.
- You can learn about the parents. A good breeder is proud of their dogs and shares photos, personalities and past litters.
- Puppies are raised in a home. Puppies raised around real family life tend to be more confident and easier to train.
- Socialization and early training. Ask what they do in the first 8 weeks. Early Neurological Stimulation, handling and potty training all make a big difference.
- They ask you questions too. A breeder who wants to know about your home and lifestyle cares about the match.
- A clear written agreement. Prices, deposits and policies should be explained up front.
- Support after pickup. Good breeders stay in touch and help for the life of the dog.
Red flags to watch for
- They won't share health testing or information about the parents
- Puppies are always available, from many breeds at once
- They pressure you to pay right away or only accept unusual payment methods
- They offer to ship a puppy sight unseen without ever talking to you
- The photos look too perfect or show up elsewhere online (a common scam sign)
- Puppies go home before 8 weeks old
Questions to ask any breeder
- What health testing have the parents had?
- Where are the puppies raised?
- What do you do for socialization and early training?
- How do you match puppies with families?
- What's included, and what are your policies?
- Will you be there for questions after I bring my puppy home?
How every Dainty Doodles puppy is raised
No matter where you live, every puppy gets the same start:
- Raised inside our home, not in a kennel or a guardian home, with kids, everyday noise and real routines.
- DNA health-tested parents, so you can see the health work behind every pairing.
- Early Neurological Stimulation and hands-on socialization from the first days.
- Temperament testing, so we can match each puppy to the right family.
- Early potty, kennel and basic training, at no extra charge.
- Lifetime support. You can reach out any time, for the life of your dog.
