Mini Goldendoodle Puppies: A Family's Guide

Mini Goldendoodles are one of the most loved family dogs around, and for good reason. They're friendly, smart and affectionate, with a low-shedding coat that's often a good fit for families with allergies. Here's what to know if you're thinking about one.

What is a Mini Goldendoodle?

A Mini Goldendoodle is a cross between a Golden Retriever and a Poodle, bred to a smaller size. You get the gentle, people-loving nature of a Golden with the intelligence and lower-shedding coat of a Poodle.

How big do Mini Goldendoodles get?

Our Mini Goldendoodles usually grow to about 13 to 40 lbs as adults. Where a puppy lands in that range depends mostly on the size of the parents, so every litter on our upcoming litters and waitlist page lists an expected adult weight.

Temperament

Mini Goldendoodles tend to be:

  • Friendly and outgoing with people, kids and other pets
  • Smart and eager to please, which makes training fun
  • Playful, but able to settle down for cuddles
  • Emotionally tuned in, which is why many become therapy and emotional support dogs

Every puppy is a little different, which is why we temperament test and match each puppy with the right family. If you're interested in a therapy or support dog, see our therapy and service dog page.

Coat and grooming

Mini Goldendoodle coats can be wavy or curly and come in colors like cream, apricot, red and gold-red with white markings. They're low-shedding, but that means the hair needs regular care:

  • Brush a few times a week, down to the skin
  • Professional groom every 6 to 8 weeks
  • Keep ears clean and dry, especially after swimming

Exercise and daily life

Plan on daily walks plus some play. Mini Goldendoodles do well in houses or apartments as long as they get time with their people. They don't like being left alone for long stretches.

How every Dainty Doodles puppy is raised

No matter where you live, every puppy gets the same start:

  • Raised inside our home, not in a kennel or a guardian home, with kids, everyday noise and real routines.
  • DNA health-tested parents, so you can see the health work behind every pairing.
  • Early Neurological Stimulation and hands-on socialization from the first days.
  • Temperament testing, so we can match each puppy to the right family.
  • Early potty, kennel and basic training, at no extra charge.
  • Lifetime support. You can reach out any time, for the life of your dog.
